Meet The Owners of Baywood River Outdoor Gear

Our Story

Hi, I’m Dreama — and yes, I was named appropriately because I’ve always been a girl with a dream. I’m the founder of Baywood River Outdoor Gear, and I created this business to share my love of the outdoors while giving back to protect the places we all cherish.

I’ve lived in Virginia for most of my 41 years, and the cool Virginia mountains will always have my heart. Since I was a kid, I’ve spent countless hours fishing, biking, hiking, and exploring the woods. My cousins and I would spend entire days making trails through the mountains on our bikes — fearless of broken bones, wrecks, or even bears!

Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones: catching crawdads at the end of our dirt road, or fishing carp and trout at local bank tournaments with my parents. That same dirt road has since been paved and turned into a beautiful park with hiking trails, bridges, fire rings, and campsites. But when I walk there today, I see things that need care — like the empty birdwatching boxes that once held binoculars and bug nets for curious kids. One of my dreams is to help bring that kind of outdoor learning and wonder back to our community.

In 2020, I met Amber — my now best friend and fellow nature-lover. She introduced me to kayaking and the New River, where I found a whole new passion for smallmouth fishing. After years of tinkering with half-broken-down boats, I was hooked on the simplicity of kayaks. No trailers, no gas, no breakdowns — and a much more eco-friendly way to enjoy the water.

Together, Amber and I hike, fish, camp, and trade stories about the latest hunting and fishing tricks. She brings the competition, I bring the campfire — and both of us bring the love for the outdoors that keeps this dream alive.

How We Give Back

At Baywood River Outdoor Gear, I wanted to create more than a store. I wanted a way to give back to the rivers, trails, and wild spaces that raised me.

That’s why we became proud members of 1% for the Planet. This means that no matter what, at least 1% of our revenue goes directly to environmental nonprofits working on conservation, cleanups, and restoration projects. For a small business like ours, that’s a big commitment — but it’s one I believe in with all my heart.

As we grow, I hope to not only give back through donations but also to support local projects — like replacing those binoculars and bug nets at the park, or organizing river cleanups that bring our community together.

Why Trust Us

I know that buying from a small business online can feel risky — and trust is something that has to be earned. That’s why we keep our policies clear, our contact information open, and our mission simple.

We’re not a big corporation. We’re just two women who love the outdoors, building something small but meaningful. When you shop here, you’re not just buying gear — you’re helping protect rivers, forests, and trails for future generations.
